The designer’s first foray into handbags has finally arrived, a project kept under wraps for 18 months. Adam Lippes explains:“This is what we try to do with our clothing as well. We work with the best mills and the best craftspeople. We don’t start from a commercial merchandising plan; we simply try to create beauty through what we do. All the metal hardware was custom-developed for us. That clasp alone required about twelve trials,” he says with a smile.


Three soft grained leather styles with zip closures now complete the wardrobes of his clientele. Lippes kept his late mother, an interior designer, in mind while developing this line. A second collection already appears to be in the works.
